Talas Rüşdiye School
History is a branch of science that objectively examines the activities and works of people who lived in the past and transfers them to future generations. Erciyes College Generations Meeting Project, which educates young generations who understand their past and understand their present and can walk confidently to the future, was realized with the analysis of "Talas Primary and Secondary School" in Talas district of Kayseri.
Primary Schools; In the Ottoman Empire, it operated as a primary school where children aged 5-6 years were educated. They served as the present kindergarten. Rüştiye Mektepleri, on the other hand, means the school attended by those who entered the adolescence period after the 1839 Tanzimat Edict in the Ottoman Empire, that is, the adults. They served as the present secondary school.
In the sixth part of our project, fifth grade students who have just started secondary school were provided to see how their primary and secondary school education was carried out in the Ottoman State. Thus, by seizing the opportunity to analyze the past and present education systems, their awareness of today's modern education system has been increased.
In this study, as in previous generations meeting projects, it is aimed to increase students' mental and developmental functions such as the initiation of sociological observation skills, the formation of a historical perspective, and the increase of responsibility awareness. At the same time, our work; It is presented in three different languages: Turkish, English and Spanish. In this way, our project not only crossed the borders of the country, but also our students had the opportunity to effectively use the English and Spanish languages they learned at Erciyes College.
It should not be forgotten that; The past is the mirror of the future. In this context, as the Erciyes College Family, we will continue to raise generations that take İlhan from the past and know their values and shape their future...
