STORY
People of all classes, such as soldiers of the heroic Turkish people in the Dardanelles War, crossed the line of homeland defense and defended our country, where they voluntarily sacrificed their lives for it. Behind the front, other heroes, who licked wounds of the ones’ writing the saga and displayed sacrifice in their treatment were the Turkish Red Crescent, known at that time as “Society of Hilal-i Ahmer”. The field hospitals established by Hilal-i-Ahmer were not only healing the wounds of our soldiers. At the same time, this place was like a soup kitchen. Here, while soldiers returning from the front treated their wound, relieved the need for bathing, ate meals and rested. So there were doctors, nurses and a medical team waiting for our fighting soldiers behind the front with great sacrifice. Some of them left medical school halfway through and came here first, calling it homeland. Being behind the front did not protect them from the enemy’s attack. As a matter of fact, there are many heroic medical doctors in the history of the Turkish Red Crescent. We remember them all with mercy and gratitude.
