The Tomb of Sayyid Burhaneddin

Culture is the characteristics that a nation brings from the past, reflects on the lifestyle of the period in which it lived, and tries to transfer it to future generations and ensure its continuation. These features become important elements in determining the lifestyles of individuals.

With the conversion of the Turks to Islam, the Islamic Culture was synthesized with the Turkish culture and created the Turkish-Islamic culture. One of the important values in Turkish Islamic culture has been the tombs.

Tomb; These are the monumental tombs built for the people we call famous, who have made their name known in the Turkish-Islamic World. Kayseri hosts the mausoleums of many people, especially from the Seljuk period. Seyyid Burhanettin, who taught Mevlana in one of these tombs in Kayseri
It is the tomb of his masters.

Seyyid Burhanettin started to live in Kayseri in 1235 and died here in 1244. The mausoleum was built in 1894 by the II. It was built by the Governor of Kayseri Mehmet Nazim Pasha during the reign of Abdülhamit. This tomb is located in a cemetery from those times.

Our goal in the implementation of the 8th project of the "Gathering of the Generations of the Tomb" project was to enable our students to perceive the place of tombs and tomb-like structures in the society by revealing their awareness of Turkish-Islamic Culture. In this way, our students; It was ensured that features such as selective perception, social observation, and self-confidence were developed. In addition, they will be able to transfer the knowledge they have learned to the next generations by making them permanent. Thus, they succeeded in establishing the past-future relationship.

It should be known that our past values are the guide of our future. Generations who know their essence and self will grow up to the degree of commitment to these values. In this context, as the Erciyes College family, we will continue to raise generations who are inspired by their past, know their values and can shape their future...
