
Standing in all its glory in Kayseri Republic Square, the castle was built during the Roman and Byzantine Empire periods, and later it was also used by the Seljuks, Karamanoğulları, Dulkadiroğlus and Ottomans.
It is seen that it is largely intact today, with maintenance and repairs on various dates.
Historical Kayseri Castle, which was used as a settlement until 1916, started to be restored in 2013, and after 6 years of work, it was turned into a culture and art center. There are educational areas, library, cafeterias, meeting rooms and an archeology museum in the historical castle, which consists of 6 thousand square meters.
Kayseri Castle, in which cut stone is used in its entirety, consists of two parts as inner and outer castle.
In addition, in 1467, with the edict of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, the mosque, which was in ruins from the time of Karamanoğulları, was rebuilt and renamed 'Fatih Mosque-i Şerifi'.
Intense horoscope:
Dense bastion, built by Seljuk Sultan Izzettin Keykavus as a two-storey building, was used as a prison and government office in the 16th century.
Built during the reign of Alaeddin Keykubat, one of the most famous Seljuk sultans in Turkish and world history, the arrow bastion was also built as a two-storey tower, but the second floor has not survived to the present day.
