Trustees of the Republic
This year (2017), at the beginning of the road to the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, whose 94th anniversary we celebrate, is our National Struggle and War of Independence, which our nation started with the principle of "Independence or Death" to establish an "unconditionally, independent new Turkish State". Following the victorious end of the National Struggle and the War of Independence and the approval of our independence by the Treaty of Lausanne by all states, it was now necessary to clearly state how the state administration would be. The Republic was proclaimed with the constitutional amendment made on October 29, 1923.
Republic actually means “transition from personal sovereignty to national sovereignty”. For this reason, the republican administration brought the fact that sovereignty belongs to the nation, not to an individual, a group, or a class, to our state and political life.
The Republic, at the same time, has created an environment in which modernization and reaching the level of contemporary civilization are best realized because of the value it attaches to the human element and the respect it shows for human rights and freedoms.
Because of these values, our youth and every future generation should know that the republican administration we established in this country was realized after a life and death war, which was won with great sacrifices under the leadership of Atatürk. Behind this great success are the rights and blood of thousands of martyrs and veterans. In this respect, it is an inevitable duty that young people owe to Atatürk and his revolution mates to develop this great work in every aspect, to develop it and to protect it from dangers.
With the "We are the Trustees of the Republic" section, which is the ninth of our Generations Gathering Project, we aimed to both pay our debt of loyalty to our past and increase our youth's awareness of the past and enable them to walk confidently towards the future.
It should not be forgotten; The past is the mirror of the future. In this context, as Erciyes College Family, we will continue to raise generations who are inspired by their past, know their values and can shape their future...
